1s & 2s— Build with Plastic Blocks

Bible Story: Jesus Read the Scroll Luke 4:16-22
Life Point: Jesus did what the Bible said He would.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “The Bible tells about Me.” Luke 4:21

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 6, plastic interlocking blocks (like Duplo^® Bricks)

• Display the teaching picture with the blocks. 
• Talk about the Bible story as preschoolers play. Point to Jesus in the Teaching Picture. Say that Jesus did what the Bible said He would do.
• Open the Bible and read the Bible verse: “Jesus said, ‘The Bible tells about Me.’ Luke 4:21”

3–Pre-K— Build a Synagogue

Bible Story: Jesus Read the Scroll Luke 4:16-22
Life Point: Jesus did what the Bible said He would.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “The Bible tells about Me.” Luke 4:21

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, wooden blocks, picture of synagogue (Bible or Bible dictionary)

• Display the picture of the synagogue and the teaching picture next to the blocks.
• Invite preschoolers to build a synagogue with the blocks. Point to the picture of the synagogue and tell them a synagogue was a place of worship, like a church.
• Talk about the Bible story as kids build. Comment that Jesus did what the Bible said He would do.
• Say the Weekly Verse with the preschoolers.

Kindergarten—Investigate the Bible

Bible Story: Jesus Read the Scroll Luke 4:16-22

Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “The Bible tells about Me.” Luke 4:21

Materials: one or more Bibles, paper strips, paper, marker, magnifying glasses

• On a sheet of paper print the words to the Weekly Verses for the unit: Luke 2:52, Luke 4:21, John 6:38, Matthew 14:33, Matthew 9:35. Put a paper strip in one or more Bibles at these references. Place these papers on a table with the Bibles and magnifying glasses.
• Show the paper and Bibles to a child and encourage him to open the Bible to one of the verses. Help him identify which verse he found, and read the verse with him. He can use a magnifying glass to look for words that match the verse. 
• Tell the Bible story. Say that Jesus did what the Bible said He would do. Comment that the things Jesus did show that He is God’s Son.
