Materials: Teaching Picture 4, medical gauze, paper, washable paint in cups, paintbrushes, painting smocks, scissors
- Cut the gauze into strips. Display the Teaching Picture with the art materials.
- Tell the Bible story and show the Teaching Picture as children arrive in the center. Say the Weekly Verse: God loved the worlds and sent His Son. John 3:16. Say that Jesus was able to heal people because He is God’s Son.
- Show the strips of gauze and ask children if anyone knows what this is used for. (bandaging wounds) Show children how to lay a strip pf gauze on a paper and gently paint over it. A child can then remove the gauze to see a design, or he can leave the gauze to stick with the paint.
Kindergarten—Play a Game
Bible Story: Jesus Made a Man Hear Mark 7:31-37
Life Point: Jesus healed people because He is God’s Son.
Weekly Verse: God loved the world and sent His Son. John 3:16
Materials: paper, permanent marker, large craft sticks (enough for each word and the reference of the Weekly Bible Verse)
- Print the Weekly Verse onto a sheet of paper. Print each word and the reference onto separate craft sticks. If you have a large group of kids, make more than one set. Color the back sides of each set with different colors.
- Tell the Bible story as kids show interest in the activity. Read the verse that you wrote on the paper.
- Invite kids to play a game with the sticks. A child can play alone, or two or more can play together. One child drops the sticks on a table or the floor. Any stick that lands with the word faceup can be removed. Continue dropping the sticks until all the words are revealed. Challenge the kids to put the verse in order. They can reference the paper for the printed verse.
