1s & 2s—Make a Bandage Collage

Bible Story: Jesus Helped a Man Walk Mark 2:1-12
Life Point: Jesus showed love by helping others.
Weekly Verse: Jesus made sick people well. Luke 7:21

Materials: Teaching Picture 1, heavyweight paper, assorted bandages, marker

• Print the Bible verse on each sheet of paper. Give each preschooler a paper and tell her she can stick the bandages to her paper.
• Talk about the Bible story as preschoolers collage. Point to the Teaching Picture and say: “Jesus helped the man get well. Jesus showed love by helping others.”

3–Pre-K— Paint with a Friend

Weekly Verse: Jesus healed many people. Luke 7:21

Materials: Teaching Picture 1, paint in cups, paintbrushes, painting smocks, ribbons or bandannas, paper

• Arrange the painting materials on a table. Display the Teaching Picture nearby.
• Invite two children to paint together. Help them put on smocks. Use a ribbon or bandanna to tie loosely one child’s right hand to the other’s left. Put a paintbrush in each child’s hand that is tied to the other’s. Urge them to work together to put paint on the paper.
• Talk about the Bible story and show the Teaching Picture as the children paint. Comment that the friends worked together to take their friend to Jesus; Jesus healed the man to show love for him.
• Offer to cut the paper in half so each child will have a painting to take home.

Kindergarten—Build with Friends

Materials: Teaching Picture 1, large bags, wooden blocks

• Put a collection of wooden blocks into several large bags. Place the bags around the block area. Display the Teaching Picture.
• Invite two or more kindergartners to work together to build with the blocks in one bag.
• Tell the Bible story as kids build. Comment that the four friends worked together to bring their friend to Jesus. Show the Teaching Picture and comment that Jesus healed the man to show His love for him.
