1s & 2s—Paint on a Heart Shape
Bible Story: Jesus Taught a Samaritan Woman John 4:1-42
Life Point: People can learn that God loves them.
Weekly Verse: We know God loves us. 1 John 4:16
Materials: Teaching Picture 6, paper cut into heart shapes, washable paint in shallow containers, paintbrushes, painting smocks, washable paint in shallow containers, paintbrushes, painting smocks
- Print the Bible verse on a heart shape for each preschooler.
- Help children put on smocks before painting. Give each child a heart shape and read the Bible verse as you point to each word. Lead children to paint on the shape.
- Talk about the Bible story and point to the Teaching Picture as preschoolers paint. Say that the heart shapes help remind us that Jesus loves us, which is what our verse says.
- Social Distancing Tip: Limit painting to two preschoolers at a time. Disinfect the paintbrushes and smocks between each child.
3–Pre-K— Play with Water

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, towels, clear container, turkey baster, cups, sponges
- Put a few inches of water in the container. On the floor, stack the towel, Teaching Picture, and the container of water. Children should be able to see the picture through the water. Keep at least one towel for drying hands.
- Point to the well in the Teaching Picture. Question the children about what a well is for.
- Tell the Bible story. Emphasize that Jesus told the woman about God’s love, and she learned that God loved her. Say the Weekly Verse together.
- Social Distancing Tip: Limit water play to two children, stationed on opposite ends of the container. Tell them to wash their hands before and after playing.
Kindergarten— Connect PVC Pipes

Materials: PVC pipes, connectors
- Cut the pipes in various lengths. (Home improvement stores cut the pipes for a small fee.)
- Talk about the Bible story as kids connect the pipes. Comment that these kinds of pipes usually carry water.
- Show kids how to whisper into one end of a connected pipe to another kid at the other end. Guide him to say the Life Point or the Weekly Verse.
- Social Distancing Tip: Limit the number of kids who can play with the pipes. Disinfect the pipes between each child who plays, especially the ends they used for whispering.
