1s & 2s— Care for a Baby
Bible Story: God’s Plan for Abraham and Sarah Genesis 17:1-8,15-22; 18:1-15; 211-7
Life Point: Parents and other family members can take care of children.
Weekly Verse: Take care of your family. 1 Timothy 5:4
Materials: Teaching Picture 9, vinyl baby doll, blanket
- Wrap the doll in the blanket and lay it beside the teaching picture.
- Encourage a preschooler to hold the baby and rock it. Comment that she is caring for the baby.
- Point to the teaching picture and tell the Bible story. Say that Abraham and Sarah cared for their baby. Say that the child’s family cares for her.
3–Pre-K— Wash Dolls

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, vinyl doll, dishpan, water, washcloth, towel
- Put 1 inch of water in the dishpan. Place it on a low table or the floor with the towel and washcloth. Prop the teaching picture nearby.
- Invite a preschooler to wash the baby. Talk about ways that families care for babies. Tell the children that their families care for them, too.
- Point to the teaching picture and tell the Bible story. Say that parents and other family members take care of children. Say the Weekly Verse together.
Kindergarten— Find Bible Story Words

Weekly Verse: Take care of your family. 1 Timothy 5:4
Materials: Teaching Picture 9, index cards, marker, magnetic letters, tape, box, shredded paper, large magnetic surface (like an oil drip pan)
- Print the following words on index cards, one word per card: ABRAHAM, SARAH, ISAAC, CARE, CHILDREN.Tape each card to the magnetic surface. Bury the letters for the words in the shredded paper in the box. Place the box near the magnet board and prop the teaching picture nearby.
- Tell kids to try and spell the words by finding the letters in the paper. Tell the Bible story as kids play. Point to the teaching picture showing Abraham and Sarah.
- Say that Abraham and Sarah cared for their baby, like their parents care for them. Comment that parents and other family members can take care of children. Say the Weekly Verse together.
