Preschool: God’s Plan for Families: Session 3—Abram and Lot (November 15)

1s & 2s— Play with a Ball and Tube

Bible Story: Abram and Lot Genesis 13
Life Point: We can get along and help our family members.
Weekly Verse: Do all you can to get along with everyone. Romans 12:18

Materials: Large mailing tube, ball that fits in tube (like a tennis ball)

  • Tell the Bible story as preschoolers have fun rolling the ball through the tube. Encourage the boys and girls to take turns and work together while playing.
  • Thank the preschoolers for helping and working together. Comment that they can help and get along with their family members, too.

3–Pre-K—Plant Grass Seed

Bible Story: Abram and Lot Genesis 13
Life Point: We can get along and help our family members.
Weekly Verse: Do all you can to get along with everyone. Romans 12:18

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, newspaper, small cups, plastic spoon, grass seed, potting soil, spray bottle of water

  • Cover a table with newspaper. Display the teaching picture.
  • Give each child a cup and allow him to spoon dirt into his cup until it is half full. Show him how to sprinkle grass seed on his dirt and cover the seed with more dirt. Then he can spray water on his seed.
  • Tell the Bible story while kids plant seed. Point to the teaching picture. Mention that the animals did not have enough grass to eat; Abram and Lot worked together to find a solution to the problem.
  • Ask kids to name ways they can get along with their families.

Kindergarten—Make Play Dough Animals

Bible Story: Abram and Lot Genesis 13
Life Point: We can get along and help our family members.
Weekly Verse: Do all you can to get along with everyone. Romans 12:18

Materials: Teaching Picture 10; play dough; sheep, goat, and cow cookie cutters

  • Give each child a lump of play dough. Suggest that she can make an animal with her play dough. She can form the animal on her own, or cut out one of the animal shapes with a cookie cutter.
  • Tell the Bible story. Point to Abram and Lot in the teaching picture. Comment that Abram and Lot helped each other and got along; God wants family members to get along with one another.
  • Talk about ways kindergartners get along with their families.
