1s & 2s— Make Shoe Prints
Bible Story: Jesus Was Born Luke 2:1-20
Life Point: Jesus was born as God promised.
Weekly Verse: God sent His only Son, Jesus. 1 John 4:9
Materials: paint in shallow containers, paper, painting smocks, baby shoes
- Fold a damp paper towel into the bottom of the container and pour the paint over the paper towel. This will make a good stamping surface. Print the Bible verse at the top of each paper. Help preschoolers put on painting smocks.
- Show a child how to press the sole of a shoe in the paint and then onto his paper. Comment that Mary and Joseph traveled far from home before Jesus was born as God promised.
- Point to the words and say the Bible verse. Thank God for sending Jesus.
3–Pre-K— Examine Hay

Materials: Teaching Picture 3, “Allergy Alert” (Printables), hay, magnifying glasses
- Post the allergy sign where parents can see it before the session. Display the teaching picture with the other materials.
- Invite boys and girls to look at and touch the hay. They can use the magnifying glasses to closely examine the hay. Show the picture and comment that Mary laid Jesus in a manger (feeding box) filled with hay.
- Continue telling the Bible story. Say that Jesus was born as God promised. Pray, thanking God for loving us and sending Jesus.
Kindergarten— Work Christmas Card Puzzles
Bible Story: Jesus Was Born Luke 2:1-20
Life Point: Jesus was born as God promised.
Weekly Verse: God sent His only Son, Jesus. 1 John 4:9
Materials: several different religious Christmas cards (preferable depicting the Nativity), scissors, markers (optional)
- Cut off the fronts of several different Christmas cards. Cut each card into four or five pieces. (You may want to color the back of each card before cutting it into pieces.)
- Invite kids to work the puzzles. Tell the Bible story as they work. Say that Jesus was born as God promised
- Lead the kids to say the Weekly Verse together. Comment that God sent Jesus because He loved people. Thank God for sending Jesus.
