  • Place the puzzles on a low table or on the floor.
  • Talk about the Bible story as children work the puzzles.
  • Say the Bible verse. Comment that God promised He would send Jesus.

3–Pre-K— Make a Bible Verse Banner

Life Point: God promised that He would send Jesus.
Weekly Verse: God will send a child to be born. Isaiah 7:14

Materials: construction paper, labels printed with the Isaiah 7:14, simple colored stickers, markers

  • Cut the construction paper into 6-by-9-inch pieces. Allow each child to choose a color for his banner.
  • Give each child a Life Verse sticker. Encourage him to decorate his banner with stickers and markers.

Kindergarten— Decorate an Offering Container

Bible Story: Prophets Told About Jesus Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; 11:1-5; Micah 5:2
Life Point: God promised that He would send Jesus.
Weekly Verse: God will send a child to be born. Isaiah 7:14

Materials: small containers with lids (such as small chip cans or drink mix containers), craft knife (teacher’s use), construction paper, glue sticks, stickers

  • Before the session, use the craft knife to cut a coin-sized slit in the lid of each container. Cut a strip of construction paper to fit around the can.
  • Give each child a strip of paper to decorate with stickers. Help children glue the papers around their containers.
  • Talk about the Bible story as children decorate their cans. Say that Christmas is the time to celebrate God’s promise to send Jesus.
  • If your church contributes to a special Christmas offering, take some time to talk about that offering. Encourage the children to put money in their banks and bring them to church for the offering.

I’m a little disappointed in the activities/crafts that are given for 3 year olds. Most of these children do not read yet and the other activities are messy and do not consider the motor skills of a child that age.

There is also a section in the back of the Leader Guide to use during the Bonus Teaching hour. In addition to these Extra items, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the Bonus Teaching Hour to provide additional activity ideas for you. Thank you again for your feedback as we continue to provide trustworthy resources for our churches. Thank you for serving and teaching children.
