Bible Story: God Made the Sun, Moon, and Stars Genesis 1:4-5,14-19
Life Point: God made the day and night.
Weekly Verse: God called the light day and the darkness night. Genesis 1:5
Materials: Teaching Picture 3, star stencils or cookie cutters, paper, colored pencils, stickers (optional)
- Print the Weekly Bible Verse onto a paper for each child. Invite boys and girls to trace the stars onto paper.
- Point to the Teaching Picture and tell what was created on the first four days of creation.
- Encourage the children to tell some things they know about stars. Thank God for creating the world.
- Provide stickers for younger children who may not be able to trace the shapes.
3–Pre-K—Build on a Star Shape

Materials: Teaching Picture 3, masking or painters tape, wooden blooks
- Use the tape to make a large star shape on the floor of the blocks area. (If you can’t tape on the floor, draw a large star shape on a poster board of piece of bulletin board paper.) Lay the teaching picture near the blocks.
- Invite kids to build on the outline. Tell the Bible story as the children build. Talk about the different things in space that God made—sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, asteroids, and so forth.
- Say the Weekly Verse together. Thank God for making the world.
Kindergarten—Investigate Books about Space

Materials: Teaching Picture 3; paper; pencils; books about stars, planets, the sun, and the moon
- Display the books with the teaching picture, paper, and pencils. Show the teaching picture and briefly share the story with kids.
- Invite kids to look through the books and find information about things God made. They can use paper and pencils to write or draw any interesting information they find.
- Say the Weekly Verse together and thank God for creating our wonderful world.
