1s & 2s— Crawl Through a Tunnel
Bible Story: God Sent Jonah to Nineveh Jonah 1–4
Life Point: God loves people even when they make wrong choices.
Weekly Verse: God said, “I will always love you.” Jeremiah 31:3
Materials: Teaching Picture 8, large cardboard box
- Open both ends of the box and lay it on its side to create a tunnel. Place the Bible Story Picture at the end of the tunnel.
- Encourage 1s and 2s to crawl or walk through the tunnel. When they reach the end, show the Bible Story Picture and talk about Jonah.
- Tell the kids that God loved Jonah, even though Jonah did not do what God said.
3–Pre-K— Make Shape People

Materials: Teaching Picture 8; construction paper cut into circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles; paper; glue sticks; child-size scissors
- Display the Teaching Picture with the art supplies.
- Invite the children to glue the shapes on paper to make people. Offer the scissors to cut any shapes into smaller sizes.
- Point to Jonah and tell the Bible story. Remind them that God loved Jonah, even though he made a wrong choice to run away. Say that God also loved the people of Nineveh. Offer to print the Weekly Verse on each child’s paper as you say it with her.
Kindergarten— Match Verse Words

Materials: Teaching Picture 8, index cards, marker, tape, wooden blocks
- Print the Weekly Verse on index cards, one word per card. Include the reference. Make two sets.
- Tape each card to a wooden block. Place the blocks facedown on the floor.
- Invite two or more kindergartners to play a game by turning over two blocks to find a matching word.
- When all the matches are found, challenge the children to “build” the verse in order.
- Show the Teaching Picture and talk about Jonah. Remind the kids that God loved Jonah, even though he made a wrong choice to run away. Say that God also loved the people of Nineveh.
