1s & 2s—Play with People Figures

Bible Story: God Chose Joshua Numbers 27:12-22; Deuteronomy 34:5-9; Joshua 1:1-9
Life Point: God provides for people.
Weekly Verse: God will provide all your needs. Philippians 4:19

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, vinyl or wooden people figures, cardboard blocks

• Arrange the people figures with a stack of blocks. Prop the Teaching Picture where preschoolers can see it while playing.
• Talk about the Bible story as preschoolers play with the figures. Comment that God gave the people a new leader, Joshua.
• Point to the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story. Say the Life Point.

3–Pre-K— Play Out Camping

Life Point: God provides for people.
Weekly Verse: God will provide all your needs. Philippians 4:19

Materials: Bible, small tent, backpack, compass, toy lantern, flashlight, paper strip

• Set up a small tent in one corner or the classroom. Mark the Weekly Verse in the Bible with a paper strip. Put the Bible and other items inside the tent. 
• Invite kids to sit in the tent and listen to the Bible story. Remark that the people were camping beside the Jordan River getting ready to enter the Promised Land.
• Comment that God provided the people what they needed; God provides for us, too. Open the Bible and read the marked verse.

Kindergarten— Make Clothespin People

Bible Story: God Chose Joshua Numbers 27:12-22; Deuteronomy 34:5-9; Joshua 1:1-9
Life Point: God provides for people.
Weekly Verse: God will provide all your needs. Philippians 4:19

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, peg-type clothespins, fine-point permanent markers, wooden blocks; Option: fabric scraps, glue sticks 

• Place the materials with the blocks. Prop the Teaching Picture where the kids can see it.
• Show kids the clothespins and pens. Explain how to use the pens to draw facial features on the head of the clothespin. As an option, kids can glue fabric on the clothespins to make clothes for their people.
• Encourage kids to play out the Bible story using the people and the blocks. Point to the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story. Comment that Joshua was made the leader of the Israelites after Moses died. Tell kids that God provides everything people need. Say the Weekly Verse together.
