3–Pre-K—Play a Movement Game

Bible Story: God Planned for Families Genesis 1:27-28; 3:20; 4:12
Life Point: God planned for families to care for His world.
Weekly Verse: You are the only God. You created the earth and everything in it. Nehemiah 9:6

Materials: Teaching Picture 12, red and green construction paper, maker, masking tape

  • Write YES and the green paper and NO on the red paper. Tape a line on the floor in a clear area of the room. Tape the signs on opposite sides of the line.
  • Tell children to stand on the line. Point out the two signs and read them. Ask a question and direct the children to move to the side of the sign that has their answer.
  • Ask questions such as: Do you have a sister? Do you have a brother? Do you have a mother? After answering each question by moving to the correct sign, guide children to return to the line.
  • After a few turns show the teaching picture and tell the Bible story. Continue the game by calling out other family members. Thank God for making families.

Kindergarten—Make Family Flags

Bible Story: God Planned for Families Genesis 1:27-28; 3:20; 4:12
Life Point: God planned for families to care for His world.
Weekly Verse: You are the only God. You created the earth and everything in it. Nehemiah 9:6

Materials: Bible, construction paper, markers, tape, yarn

  • Cut construction paper into large triangles. Provide enough for each kindergartner to use several. Include a variety of colors.
  • Guide a kindergartner to create a flag for each member of his family. On each flag he can print the family member’s name and draw pictures of things that family member likes to do or decorate the flag with designs.
  • Talk about family members, how they are alike and different.
  • Comment that God planned for families. Talk about the first family.
  • Help a child attach each of his family members’ flags to a length of yarn. Suggest he display the flags at home to remind him that God made his family.
  • Open the Bible to Genesis 4 and help a kindergartner find the names of the first family. Thank God for the kindergartner’s family.
