Preschool: God Had a Plan: Session 3—God Created People (August 16)

1s & 2s—Make a Handprint Mural

Bible Story: God Made People Genesis 2:4-24
Life Point: God made people.
Weekly Verse: God made man and woman. Genesis 1:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, long sheet of paper, washable paint, shallow pans, painting smocks, marker, tape

  • Tape the long sheet of paper to the wall or the floor. Pour paint into the shallow containers. 
  • Help a preschooler put on a smock. She can dip her hands in the paint and press them onto the paper. Allow her to make different colors of handprints. Print her name under the handprints.
  • Talk about the Bible story as children paint. Comment that God made all people different. Point to the people in the teaching picture and say the Weekly Verse.

3–Pre-K—Work People Puzzles

Bible Story: God Made People Genesis 2:4-24
Life Point: God made people.
Weekly Verse: God made man and woman. Genesis 1:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, wooden puzzles featuring people

  • Display the teaching picture with the puzzles. 
  • Talk about the Bible story as children work puzzles. Comment that God created people on day 6 after He made the animals. Point to the people in the teaching picture and say the Weekly Verse together.
  • Thank God for creating the world and making people.

Kindergarten—Make a Measurement Poster

Bible Story: God Made People Genesis 2:4-24
Life Point: God made people.
Weekly Verse: God made man and woman. Genesis 1:27

Materials: Teaching Picture 11, poster board, marker, scale, measuring tape or yardstick, tape

  • Say the Weekly Verse with the kids. Comment that God made people special. Thank God for His creation.
  • Draw a chart on the poster with three columns: Name, Height, Weight. Attach the poster to the wall. Attach the measuring tape to the wall with the bottom touching the floor.
  • Invite a kindergartner to print his name on the poster. Help him measure his height and weight and print those on the poster, too.
