1s & 2s— Paint with Leaves

Bible Story: God Created the World Genesis 1:1-19
Life Point: God made the world.
Weekly Verse: In the beginning God made the world. Genesis 1:1

Materials: “Allergy Alert” (Printables), paper, leaves of different shapes and sizes, paint, foam paintbrushes, painting smocks, marker

• Print the Weekly Verse onto a paper for each child. Post the allergy alert listing the types of leaves being used.
• When a preschooler shows interest in the activity, help him put on a smock. Point to and say the words on the paper. Comment that God made all the plants and trees.
• Allow the child to choose the leaves he would like to use for his paper. Help him brush paint on one side of a leaf and press it onto his paper. For younger preschoolers, brush the paint on yourself and help the child press it.
• Say a prayer thanking God for making all the plants.

3–Pre-K—Make a Space Collage

Materials: Teaching Picture 5; pictures of planets, stars, the sun, the moon, and galaxies cut from magazines or the internet; paper, glue sticks, marker

• Print the Weekly Verse across the top of a paper for each child. Display the Teaching Picture with the art materials.
• Invite boys and girls to choose pictures to glue onto their papers. Tell the Bible story and say the Weekly Verse as they work. Comment that God made everything in space.
• Pray, thanking God for making the world.

Kindergarten—Work in a Flower Shop

Life Point: God created everything.
Weekly Verse: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

Materials: real or artificial flowers, nonbreakable containers for the flowers, toy cash register, play money, purses, tissue paper

• Display the flowers in containers like a flower shop. Provide the tissue paper to wrap the flowers for customers.
• Encourage kids to take turns working in the shop and being customers.
• Tell the Bible story as kids play. Comment that God made the flowers, plants, and trees.
• Say a brief prayer, thanking God for everything He made.
