Preschool: Families Love: Session 4—A Couple Helped Elisha (July 27)

1s & 2s — Draw on House-Shaped Paper

Bible Story: A Couple Helped Elisha 2 Kings 4:8-17
Life Point: Families can love and help people in the community.
Weekly Verse: Do good to everyone. Galatians 6:10

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, 12-by-18-inch drawing paper, crayons

  • Cut the paper into simple house shapes. Print the Weekly Verse at the top of each shape. Display the teaching picture with the art supplies.
  • Tell the Bible story as preschoolers draw. Point to the couple who helped Elisha. Say that families can love and help people. 
  • Point to the verse as say it with the preschoolers. Ask the preschoolers how they help at home.

3–Pre-K — Play with Doll House Furniture

Bible Story: A Couple Helped Elisha 2 Kings 4:8-17
Life Point: Families can love and help people in the community.
Weekly Verse: Do good to everyone. Galatians 6:10

Materials: Teaching Picture 9, doll house furniture, wooden blocks

  • Put the furniture with the blocks. Display the teaching picture.
  • Suggest that children can build a house and fill it with the furniture.
  • Show the teaching picture and talk about the Bible story. Ask the children to point to and name the furniture in Elisha’s room.
  • Comment that families can love and help people in the community. Say the Weekly Verse together.

Kindergarten — Build on a Roof

Bible Story: A Couple Helped Elisha 2 Kings 4:8-17
Life Point: Families can love and help people in the community.
Weekly Verse: Do good to everyone. Galatians 6:10

Materials: Teaching Picture 8, Lego® blocks, medium-sized box, brown paper, marker

  • Cover the box with brown paper. Draw doors and windows on the sides of the box to look like a house. Place the box with the Lego® blocks and the teaching picture.
  • Tell the Bible story when children come to the center. Encourage them to work together to build on the roof of the “house” and build the room like in the picture.
  • Say the Life Point and the Weekly Verse.
