Preschool: Families Love: Session 1—Abram Chose to Get Along (July 6)

1s & 2s — Paint on Bubble Wrap

Bible Story: Abram Chose to Get Along Genesis 13
Life Point: Family members can work together to get along.
Weekly Verse: Do all you can to get along with everyone. Romans 12:18

Materials: Large sheet of bubble wrap, paint in cups, paintbrushes, painting smocks, paper, tape

  • Tape the bubble wrap to a table. Help preschoolers put on smocks before painting.
  • Talk about the Bible story as children paint. Mention that Abram and Lot had to move to a new place. Say that Abram and Lot worked together so people could get along.
  • Press a sheet of paper onto the bubble wrap to make a print for a child to take home.

3–Pre-K — Draw with Chalk

Bible Story: Abram Chose to Get Along Genesis 13
Life Point: Family members can work together to get along.
Weekly Verse: Do all you can to get along with everyone. Romans 12:18

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, paper, colored chalk, small cups of water

  • Display the teaching picture with the art supplies. 
  • Show children how to dip the chalk into water and then draw on their papers. 
  • Tell the Bible story. Comment that Abram and Lot needed to move because the animals did not have enough food and water; they worked together to solve an argument.
  • Say the Life Point and the Weekly Verse as the children draw.

Kindergarten — Plant Grass Seed

Bible Story: Abram Chose to Get Along Genesis 13
Life Point: Family members can work together to get along.
Weekly Verse: Do all you can to get along with everyone. Romans 12:18

Materials: Teaching Picture 6, small plastic cups, potting soil, plastic spoons, permanent marker, grass seed, spray bottle of water

  • Display the teaching picture with the materials.
  • Help kids to spoon some dirt into a cup, sprinkle some seed on the soil, and cover the seed with more dirt. Allow each child to use the spray bottle to water the seed.
  • Tell the Bible story as children are planting. Show the teaching picture. Mention that Abram and Lot had to move to find enough grass for all their animals; they worked together so their families could get along.
  • Say the Weekly Verse and the Life Point with the kids.
