Preschool: Do As Jesus Did: Session 4—Jesus Blessed the Children (October 25)

1s & 2s—Care for a Baby Doll

Bible Story: Jesus Blessed the Children Mark 10:13-16
Life Point: Jesus showed the way people should live.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “You should do as I have done for you.” John 13:15

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 8, baby doll, blanket, baby care items (optional)

  • Wrap the baby doll in a blanket. Place the doll on the floor with the Bible and baby care items, if you are using them.
  • Encourage a child to hold the baby and rock it. If using the baby items, show how each one is used to care for a baby.
  • Point to the Teaching Picture as you talk about the story. Comment that Jesus showed people how to live and care for one another. Thank God for Jesus.
  • Social Distancing Tip: Provide several dolls for preschoolers to use. Disinfect dolls after each child has played with one.

3–Pre-K— Decorate a Picture Frame

Bible Story: Jesus Blessed the Children Mark 10:13-16
Life Point: Jesus showed the way people should live.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “You should do as I have done for you.” John 13:15

Materials: Bible, foam picture frames, foam stickers, fine-point permanent marker

  • Open the Bible to Mark 10 and place a picture frame on top. Print Jesus loves [child’s name] on the bottom of each frame.
  • When a child comes to the center, print his name in the blank on a frame. Encourage him to decorate it with stickers. 
  • Read the words to the child and talk about the Bible story as he works. Show where the Bible story is located in the Bible. Say the Weekly Verse together.
  • Social Distancing Tip: Allow no more that two children at the art activity so they can be spaced apart at the table. Encourage children to wash their hands before and after the activity.

Kindergarten—Make Fingerprints

Bible Story: Jesus Blessed the Children Mark 10:13-16
Life Point: Jesus showed the way people should live.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “You should do as I have done for you.” John 13:15

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 8, washable paint, paper plates

  • Pour a small amount of paint into separate paper plates. Give each child a paper plate when he comes to the center. Invite him to dip each finger into paint and press it onto his plate.
  • Show the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story as kids work. Say that Jesus taught people how to live; He wants people to be kind to others.
  • Help kids name ways they can use their hands to show kindness to others.
  • Social Distancing Tip: Allow no more than two kids at the art table at one time. Be sure to direct kids to wash their hands before and after the activity.
