1s & 2s— Look at and Match Leaves
Bible Story: Jesus Loved Zacchaeus Luke 19:1-10
Life Point: People can love others as Jesus did.
Weekly Verse: Love one another as I have loved you. John 13:34
Materials: Bible, 3 or 4 pairs of matching leaves, clear contact plastic, Teaching Picture 7
- Before the session find pairs of leaves that are the same size and type. Dry the leaves by placing them between paper towels in the pages of a book. Laminate the leaves or cover them with clear contact plastic. (If you cannot find real leaves, print some leaves from the internet and mount them on index cards.)
- Place the leaves on the floor or a low table with the Teaching Picture. Invite a child to find the leaves that match. Point to the leaves and the tree in the picture.
- Talk about the Bible story. Open the Bible and read the Weekly Verse.
- Social Distancing Tip: Guide this activity with one child at a time. Disinfect the leaves after each child touches the leaves.
3–Pre-K— Make a Banner

Materials: Bible, Teaching Picture 7, white construction paper, markers, self-adhesive labels
- Make Bible phrase stickers by printing the Weekly Verse onto the self-adhesive labels.
- Guide a child to place a Bible verse sticker in the center of his banner. Say the verse together before the children start drawing.
- Tell children to draw around the verse with the markers. Show the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story as they work. Point to Zacchaeus in the picture. Tell kids that they can love others as Jesus did.
- Social Distancing Tip: Label a ziplock bag of markers for each child to use throughout the session. Allow only one or two children to do the activity at one time.
Kindergarten—Make Cards
Bible Story: Jesus Loved Zacchaeus Luke 19:1-10
Life Point: People can love others as Jesus did.
Weekly Verse: Love one another as I have loved you. John 13:34
Materials: Bible, heavy-weight paper, rubber stamps, washable ink pads, stickers, markers, pencils
- Print the phrase God loves you on a sheet of paper. Fold some of the paper in half to make cards. Arrange the materials on a table.
- Invite a child to make a card for a friend. Encourage her to print the phrase on the card. Then she can decorate the cards as she likes with stamps, stickers, and markers.
- Open the Bible and read the Weekly Verse. Say the verse together. Help each child think of a friend to whom she could give the card.
- Social Distancing Tip: Allow only one or two children to do the activity at one time. Guide kindergartners to wash their hands before and after the activity.
