Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: Samuel in the Tabernacle
Samuel used God’s words to tell the people what God is like. John 1:1 says that Jesus is the Word. Jesus showed the world what God is like, and He told people to turn away from their sin. Jesus ultimately freed people from the power of sin by dying on the cross and rising again.
Unit 1, Session 2: God Healed Naaman
Naaman was sick. He had a problem with his skin. When Naaman washed in the river, his skin got better. We are all sick with a sin problem. No one can obey God all the time. When we trust in Jesus, He heals us. God forgives us and makes us well.
Unit 1, Session 3: God Chose a King
God intended for a heavenly king to rule over Israel, but the Israelites did not trust God’s plan. So God chose Saul to be their king. God had a plan to one day send His Son, Jesus, to rule the entire world. Jesus would be the perfect King who would bring peace and salvation to the world.
Unit 1, Session 4: Saul Did Not Listen to God
King Saul did not listen to God and disobeyed Him. God rejected Saul as king, but He had a plan to send His Son, Jesus. King Jesus gave up His own life as a good and perfect sacrifice so sinners would be forgiven and accepted.
Unit 1, Session 5: God Chose David
Samuel obeyed God by anointing David as king. David was an unlikely choice for a king, but God knew his heart. Jesus was an unlikely choice for our Savior, but by dying on the cross and coming back to life, Jesus showed His power to save sinners.
Unit 2, Session 1: God Gave Rules to Moses
God gave us rules to show that He is holy. Our sin keeps us away from God, but Jesus came to bring us back to Him. Jesus is holy; He never sinned. We can trust Him to forgive our sin.
Unit 2, Session 2: David Wrote a Psalm of Thanks
David was thankful to God and praised Him for His love. In love, God chose to send His Son, Jesus. He kept His promise to save people from sin. Jesus died on the cross and rose again. Those who trust in Him rejoice and are saved.
Unit 2, Session 3: Josiah Read the Scroll
The Bible is powerful. When Josiah read the Bible, the people chose to do what it said. Today, we can learn about Jesus from the Bible. He helps us say no to doing wrong and He died to rescue us from sin.
Unit 2, Session 4: Jesus Read the Bible Scroll
Long before Jesus was born, Isaiah the prophet talked about God’s plan to send Jesus to earth. Jesus would bring good news and help people who were hurting. Jesus read Isaiah’s words. Jesus said that He is the One God promised to send.
Unit 3, Session 1: Jesus Fed a Crowd
By feeding the 5,000, Jesus provided for the physical needs of the crowd. The next day, Jesus called Himself the bread of life. (John 6:35) Only Jesus is able to satisfy our souls by providing forgiveness, friendship with God, and eternal life.
Unit 3, Session 2: Jesus Calmed the Storm
Jesus did miracles to help people believe that He is the Son of God. Jesus has power over everything, and anyone who believes in Him will live with Him forever.
Unit 3, Session 3: Jesus Made Bartimaeus Well (B–Pre-K)
Jesus loved and paid attention to all types of people. Jesus taught people what God is like by showing kindness and helping people. Jesus came to give His life for our sin.
Jesus Raised Lazarus (K)
When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, He showed that He has power over death. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Jesus died on the cross for our sin and rose from the dead. He gives eternal life to those who trust in Him.
Unit 3, Session 4: Jesus Helped His Disciples
When Jesus was arrested, His friends ran away. Jesus showed His friends that He still loved them and wanted them to follow Him. Sometimes we make mistakes as we follow Jesus too. Jesus rescued us from sin. We know He forgives us and wants us to keep following Him.
