Preschool: All People Are Important to God: Session 1—Jesus and the Children (September 4)

1s & 2s— Make Handprints

Bible Story: Jesus and the Children Mark 10:13-16
Life Point: All people are important to God.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “Let the children come to Me.” Mark 10:14

Materials: Teaching Picture 1, washable paint, paintbrush, paper, marker, painting smocks

  • Print All people are important to God at the top of a paper for each preschooler. 
  • Help a child put on a smock. Paint a child’s palm and guide him to press it onto his paper. Tell the Bible story and show the Teaching Picture as you work together. 
  • Change colors and continue to make handprints. Comment that the preschooler’s handprint is different from any other handprint. Thank God for loving people.

3–Pre-K— Weigh and Measure

Bible Story: Jesus and the Children Mark 10:13-16
Life Point: All people are important to God.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “Let the children come to Me.” Mark 10:14

Materials: Teaching Picture 1, bathroom scale, tape measure, masking tape, paper, markers

  • Attach a 5-foot long measuring tape to a wall. Place the scale next to the tape. Sit near the measurement instruments, holding paper, a maker, and the Teaching Picture.
  • Show the Teaching Picture and tell the Bible story as a child comes to the center. Comment that each child is important God, and Jesus loves all children.
  • Print the child’s name on a paper. Print his height and weight on the paper. Encourage the child to draw a picture of himself on the paper. Thank Jesus for His love.

Kindergarten— Measure with Blocks

Bible Story: Jesus and the Children Mark 10:13-16
Life Point: All people are important to God.
Weekly Verse: Jesus said, “Let the children come to Me.” Mark 10:14

Materials: Teaching Picture 1, wooden blocks, poster board, marker

  • Display the Teaching Picture near the blocks. Lay the poster board and marker on the floor near the poster board.
  • Invite one child to lie down on the floor and another child to measure that child’s height by laying blocks beside the child on the floor. Each child can print his name and how many blocks tall he is on the poster.
  • Show the Teaching Picture and tell the Bible story. Remind kids that each of them is different from any other and all are important to God.
  • Thank Jesus for His love.
