Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: Samuel in the Tabernacle
Samuel used God’s words to tell the people what God is like. John 1:1 says that Jesus is the Word. Jesus showed the world what God is like, and He told people to turn away from their sin. Jesus ultimately freed people from the power of sin by dying on the cross and rising again.
Unit 1, Session 2: The People Sang
God called his people in the Old Testament to worship Him by building a special altar, gathering there, and singing praises to Him. Many years later, God sent His Son, Jesus, to be with His people. Now, because of Jesus, God’s people don’t have to go anywhere specific to worship Him. We can worship Him anywhere!
Unit 1, Session 3: People Prayed for Peter
God answered the people’s prayers for Peter. God had a plan for Peter and the church, and He rescued Peter from his enemies. Peter knew he would face death because he believed in Jesus, but he kept going so he could share the good news of the gospel.
Unit 1, Session 4: The Antioch Church Helped
When Jesus lived on earth, He was a walking example of how we should love and serve other people: at all times and despite any barriers the world puts up. God called the Church to love and serve one another. When the Antioch Church helped, they were worshiping God through their love for the Church.
Unit 2, Session 1: Gideon Obeyed God
The Israelites cried out to God because they knew they could not save themselves. Even Gideon was not enough to save them; God used Gideon to save His people, but God fought the battle for them. The people needed someone who was mighty to save. Jesus Christ came to save us from sin because we cannot save ourselves. Only God, through Christ, can save us.
Unit 2, Session 2: Sampson Chose Revenge
Samson’s sin led to his own death, but God used his death to deliver the Israelites from their enemies. Samson’s story reminds us of Jesus. Jesus never sinned, but God sent Him to die on the cross and rise again to rescue believers from sin and give them eternal life.
Unit 2, Session 3: Mary Anointed Jesus’ Feet
Despite what the people around her thought, Mary showed love for Jesus by sacrificing a valuable possession. Not long after that, Jesus showed His love for us by giving the most valuable thing He could—His life.
Unit 2, Session 4: Jesus Answered the Ruler’s Question
The young ruler wanted Jesus to tell him that he was a good person who could get into heaven on his own. But that is not the case. Jesus wants us to love Him more than anything else in the world. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can choose to follow Jesus for the rest of our lives, loving Him more than any other earthly possession.
Unit 3, Session 1: God Created the World
The Bible says that Jesus is Lord over all of creation. Everything was created by Him and for Him. Jesus has always existed, even at the creation of the Universe, and He holds everything together. (Colossians 1:16-17)
Unit 3, Session 2: God Created People
God created people in His own image. Adam was like God in some ways, but he was not a perfect representation of God. God sent His Son, Jesus, to show us exactly what God is like. (Colossians 1:15) Jesus is the perfect representation of God because He is God. (Hebrews 1:3)
Unit 3, Session 3: Abram Solved a Quarrel
Just like other families, Abram’s family had serious disagreements. Abram helped his family through their conflict, reminding us that we can work through difficulties and live at peace together, too. Conflict exists and families fight because we live in a broken, sin-filled world. However, because of Jesus’ sacrifice, God’s people can soon live in harmony with Him—no conflict, anger, or sadness—for all of eternity.
Unit 3, Session 4: Jacob and Esau Reconciled
Jacob and Esau needed forgiveness to restore their relationship. We also need forgiveness to have reconciliation with God. Jesus came and died on the cross to pay for our sin and take the punishment we deserve. When we trust in Jesus, God forgives our sin completely. We can forgive others because God has greatly forgiven us.
Unit 3, Session 5: Joseph Loved His Brothers
God sent Joseph to Egypt and blessed him so that he rose to a position of great power. God used Joseph to help Joseph’s family and many others. Jesus gave up His position of great power to be the Savior of the world.
