Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1 Jesus Talked with the Teachers
Even as a child, Jesus wanted to do His Father’s plan. As Jesus grew up, He became strong and wise. God blessed Jesus as He got ready to follow His Father’s plan: to die on the cross and rescue people from sin.
Unit 1, Session 2 Jesus Taught to Love God and Others
According to Jesus, these two commands summarize all God’s laws: love God and love others. Jesus loved everyone He met. He wants all people to know about God and His love. Jesus taught us to love one another.
Unit 1, Session 3 Jesus Taught Not to Worry
While Jesus was on earth, He taught people how they should live. Christians should not worry, but to trust God in everything. People learned from Jesus then, and people can still learn from Jesus.
Unit 1, Session 4 Jesus Taught About Giving
The widow’s gift was an expression of love and worship to God. She gave all that she could give. Jesus taught that when we give freely, not begrudgingly, we reflect a heart that longs to bring glory to God. Like the widow, Jesus gave all that He could give when He willingly laid down His life as payment for the sins of the world. Jesus brought glory to the Father through the ultimate gift of sacrifice.
Unit 1, Session 5 The Triumphal Entry
During Jesus’ triumphal entry, the people welcomed Him as King. The people proclaimed that Jesus, the Messiah, is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Unit 2, Session 1 Crucifixion and Resurrection
The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. God was pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and raised Jesus from the dead to reign as King over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. (Acts 4:12)
Unit 2, Session 2 Thomas Believed
Thomas saw Jesus for himself. He saw that Jesus had been raised from the dead and was alive. He saw Jesus’ scars from the cross, where Jesus died for our sins. We have not seen Jesus, but Jesus said if we believe in Him without seeing Him, we are blessed.
Unit 2, Session 3 Jesus Restored Peter
When Jesus first called the disciples to follow Him, Jesus had promised to make them fishers of men. Instead of catching fish, they would tell people about Jesus. (Luke 5:1-11) The disciples had left Jesus when He was arrested and even denied Him, but Jesus still wanted to use them in God’s plan. Jesus is the Lord who forgives us and makes things right again.
Unit 2, Session 4 Jesus Returned to Heaven
Jesus left earth and returned to heaven, but He did not leave us alone. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us do God’s work on earth while we wait for Jesus to come back and make everything new.
Unit 3, Session 1 Peter Preached at Pentecost
God kept His promise to send the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit’s help, Jesus’ disciples could begin their work to share the gospel with the entire world. God gives the Holy Spirit to those who trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit gives us power to do God’s work, and He changes us to be more like Jesus.
Unit 3, Session 2 Paul and Barnabas Became Missionaries
Paul and Barnabas faced many people who rejected the good news about Jesus. But God had a plan for Paul to share the gospel with Gentiles, no matter what troubles Paul faced. Many believed in Jesus. The church grew, and the gospel was shared so that people all over the world could be saved from their sin by trusting in Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Unit 3, Session 3 Paul Listened to God
Jesus left earth and returned to heaven, but He did not leave us alone. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us do God’s work on earth while we wait for Jesus to come back and make everything new.
Unit 3, Session 4 Paul Taught in Athens
The men of Athens worshiped false gods whom they did not know. Paul explained to the men God’s plan of salvation. He said that God is not like the Greek idols. Only God deserves our worship! Paul talked about Jesus and the resurrection. All people can know God because Jesus took the punishment for sin that separates people from God.
Unit 3, Session 5 Paul Preached to an Angry Crowd
When Paul preached the Gospel, he sometimes encountered people who were angry with him and put him in danger. That wasn’t enough to stop Paul. Paul was dedicated to Jesus and was intent on doing the work of sharing the gospel even when difficult.
