Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: Jesus Resisted Temptation
Jesus was tempted, but He never sinned. Jesus is perfect and righteous. A perfect sacrifice was required to take away sin. Jesus was that perfect sacrifice. He died on the cross to free us from sin and to give us the power to say no to temptation.
Unit 1, Session 2: Jesus Prayed in a Garden
Jesus prayed to follow God’s will for Him. Jesus willingly died on the cross for our sins. He took our punishment that we deserve out of His great love for us.
Unit 1, Session 3: Jesus Loved Zacchaeus
Jesus came to look for and rescue people who sin. He came to rescue people like you and me. Jesus died on the cross and rose again. He is happy when we are sorry for our sin, and He wants us to trust in Him.
Unit 1, Session 4: Jesus Blessed the Children
Jesus showed His disciples that all people are important, even little children. In fact, He said people should have the faith of a child. When people have faith in Jesus, God forgives their sins.
Unit 2, Session 1: Joshua and Caleb
Joshua and Caleb obeyed God even when the other people did not obey. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, so we have forgiveness. We still have consequences for our disobedience, but we can repent and turn away from our sin.
Unit 2, Session 2: Joshua and Jericho
Joshua and the people chose to follow God’s instructions. Each person has a choice to obey or disobey God. We have all sinned. Jesus took the punishment we deserve and died for our sins so we may have forgiveness and eternal life.
Unit 2, Session 3: Elijah on Mount Carmel
The people who worshiped the false god Baal danced and cried and cut their bodies to show that they loved Baal. But the one true God is not like the false gods. He doesn’t require anything earthly of us. Instead, He showed His love for us by sending His Son, Jesus. Jesus bled and died to rescue us from sin when we trust in Him.
Unit 2, Session 4: Daniel in the Lions’ Den
Daniel chose to obey God no matter what, and God blessed Daniel and his friends. In an even greater way, Jesus always obeyed God. He came to earth and followed God’s plan to save sinners. Jesus never sinned, but He died the death we deserve. Jesus rose from the dead, and those who trust in Him receive God’s forgiveness and blessing.
Unit 3, Session 1: Baby Moses
God protected Moses and saved him for a special purpose: to rescue His people. God sent Jesus for a greater rescue: Jesus came to earth to save God’s people from their sins.
Unit 3, Session 2: Ruth and Boaz
Boaz was a family redeemer. That means he would help his close relatives who were in trouble. Boaz cared for Ruth and Naomi because their husbands had died. In a similar way, Jesus is our Redeemer. We need help because we sin. Jesus bought our salvation for us by taking our punishment when He died on the cross.
Unit 3, Session 3: Jesus Visited Mary and Martha
God wanted both Mary and Martha to sit and learn from Jesus. Martha was upset with Mary as she worked on preparations. Sometimes we are selfish and do not get along with our family members. Jesus came to earth to forgive our sins. God wants us to forgive our family members when they hurt us.
Unit 3, Session 4: Mary, Martha, and Lazarus
The story of Lazarus is a powerful reminder of Jesus’ authority over life and death. Lazarus’ resurrection foreshadows the ultimate resurrection that Jesus Himself would accomplish. Jesus gave His life so we could have forgiveness and eternal life.
Unit 3, Session 5: Priscilla and Aquila
Priscilla and Aquila loved God and worshiped Him together as a family. They could worship God in their home, with their church, or wherever they wanted! When Jesus died on the cross, He removed any separation between us and God. Because of Jesus, we, too, can worship God anywhere and everywhere.
