Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: God Called Samuel
Samuel used God’s words to tell the people what God is like. John 1:1 says that Jesus is the Word. Jesus showed the world what God is like, and He told people to turn away from their sin. Jesus ultimately freed people from the power of sin by dying on the cross and rising again.
Unit 1, Session 2: God Judged the Philistines
The ark of God reminded the Israelites that God was with them. Years later, God gave His people something greater than a sign that He was with them; God gave them His Son, Jesus—God in the flesh. One of Jesus’ names is Immanuel, which means “God with us.”
Unit 1, Session 3: God Chose a King
God intended for a heavenly king to rule over Israel, but the Israelites did not trust God’s plan. So God chose Saul to be their king. God had a plan to one day send His Son, Jesus, to rule the entire world. Jesus would be the perfect King who would bring peace and salvation to the world.
Unit 1, Session 4: Saul Disobeyed God
King Saul sinned by giving a sacrifice that only the priest was allowed to give. God rejected Saul as king, but He had a plan to send His Son, Jesus. King Jesus gave up His own life as a good and perfect sacrifice so sinners would be forgiven and accepted.
Unit 1, Session 5: God Chose David
Samuel obeyed God by anointing David as king. David was an unlikely choice for a king, but God knew his heart. Jesus was an unlikely choice for our Savior, but by dying on the cross and coming back to life, Jesus showed His power to save sinners.
Unit 2, Session 1: A Psalm About Creation
David knew that Jesus is Lord over all of creation. The Son has always existed. The Bible says everything was created by Him and for Him, and He holds everything together. All of creation exists to bring God glory.
Unit 2, Session 2: A David’s Song of Praise
David was thankful to God and praised Him for His steadfast love. In love, God chose to send His Son, Jesus. He kept His promise to save people from sin. Jesus died on the cross and rose again. Those who trust in Him rejoice and are saved.
Unit 2, Session 3: Jesus Read the Scriptures
Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah wrote about God’s plan to send a Messiah. He would bring good news and redeem people who were broken and hurting. Jesus read Isaiah’s words and told everyone who was listening that He is the promised Messiah.
Unit 2, Session 4: Hearing and Doing the Word
God’s Word points out sin in our lives and gives us the opportunity to ask God’s forgiveness. As Christians, we are saved by God’s grace, and salvation through Jesus frees us from sin’s control. Through the Holy Spirit and through the Bible, we can be guided on how to live.
Unit 3, Session 1: Jesus Healed the Sick
Jesus’ miracles proved that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. They strengthened people’s faith and met their needs. Through Jesus, God did what is impossible for us to do on our own. He provided forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.
Unit 3, Session 2: Jesus Calmed the Storm
Jesus is not like any other man who lived on earth. Because He is fully God and fully man, His power extends over all creation, and all obey His commands. Because He is God’s Son, Jesus could do mighty things.
Unit 3, Session 3: Jesus Raised Lazarus
When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, He showed that He has power over death. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Jesus died on the cross for our sin and rose from the dead. He gives eternal life to those who trust in Him.
Unit 3, Session 4: Jesus Helped His Disciples
When Jesus first called the disciples to follow Him, Jesus had promised to make them fishers of men. Instead of catching fish, they would tell people about Jesus. (Luke 5:1-11) The disciples had left Jesus when He was arrested and even denied Him, but Jesus still wanted to use them in God’s plan. Jesus is the Lord who forgives us and makes things right again.
