Grades 1-3
Introductory Activity – Roll the Ball
Materials: small ball
Guide the kids to sit on the floor in a circle. The child with the ball should say, “Will you forgive me?” then roll the ball to another child in the circle. Once that child has the ball he should answer, “Yes I will.” He will then ask, “Will you forgive me?” and roll the ball to another child. Continue playing until every child has had a chance to participate. Tell the kids they will hear a story about forgiving family members.
Live It Out
Game – Plate Walk
Materials: paper plates (same number as kids), permanent marker, music
Mark a star on the back of 2-4 plates. Lay plates faceup in a circle; include the starred plates. Play music and instruct kids to walk around the plates in a circle. Stop the music and each kid should stand beside a plate. Tell kids to look under their plates. Kids with a star can say the Life Point together. Play music and kids walk around the plate circle again.
Craft – Glowing Hearts Picture
Materials: black construction paper, chalk, heavy paper, scissors, cotton balls
Cut out heart shapes from the heavy paper to use as stencils. Give a kid black paper, chalk, and a stencil. Guide the kid to trace around the stencil with the chalk. He can hold the stencil in place and use a cotton ball to brush the chalk away from the shape. Tell him to pick up the stencil and move it to another place on his paper and repeat the process. Suggest he use different colors to create a “glowing” collage. Talk about the Life Point. Remind the kids that God is always ready to forgive, and wants families to forgive one another.
Grades 4-6
Introductory Activity – What Does It Mean?
Materials: large pieces of paper, markers
Tape large pieces of paper to the various walls around the room. Print one of these words at the top of each paper: grudge, forgive, family, mistreat. Lay a few markers under each piece of paper. Guide kids to write definitions on the papers. They can print words or draw pictures to communicate the meaning of the words. Tell kids that they will learn about choices Joseph made.

Game – Bible Verse Battleship
Materials: large pieces of paper, small sticky notes, markers
Group kids into 2 teams. Tell each group to draw a 10-by-10 grid on their paper. They should write the letters A-J across the top to label the columns and numbers 1-10 down the side to label the rows. Tell teams to position the grids so that the other team cannot see it. Say the Life Verse together. Lead teams to write the verse on the self-stick notes, one word per note. Then they can place each word/note onto a square in the grid. Team 1 calls out coordinates (such as C5). Team 2 will say “hit” if a word is in that square and “miss” if no word is in that square. Then Team 2 will give that word to Team 1 to put on the wall. Team 2 now takes a turn to call out coordinates. When both teams have located all the other team’s words, the teams work to put the verse in order. Say the verse together. Replace the words on the grid and play again.
Craft – Magnet Reminder
Materials: colored heavy paper, gel pens, glue sticks, scissors, magnet tapeSay the Life Point together and talk about times kids may have a hard time forgiving a family member. Guide kids to cut heart shapes (or other shapes) to make their reminders. They can print the Life Point in the middle of the heart shape. Then they can cut squares of different colors and make a mosaic pattern around the Life Point. When they finish gluing colored squares and covering the heart, they can place pieces of magnet tape on the back to make a magnet reminder. Pray and ask God to help kids learn to forgive.
