God’s Will and My Will
The Point: Seek to align your will with God’s will.

Use the following information to introduce Question #1.
For four years in a row, Chick-fil-A has topped the list as America’s favorite restaurant. This rating is based on the American Customer Satisfaction Index, a survey of 23,000 customers. Behind Chick-fil-A, the customer favorites are Panera Bread, Papa John’s, Arby’s and Chipotle.
Say: Think about the places you like to visit when you go out to eat. Then call attention to Question #1 (When you eat out with a group, how do you choose where to go?) and invite volunteers to respond.

Study the Bible
Use the following information to supplement Question #2.
As a 12-year-old, Jonathan Hayashi began drinking and using drugs. He joined a violent gang. By age 15 he had been arrested and spent time in jail. Finally, he was arrested for stealing a motorcycle. As Hayashi sat in police car, he said it felt like God “tapped” on his heart, saying, “Jonathan, I have a bigger plan for you — this is not what you’re supposed to be.” To help him break away from bad friends and bad influences, his mother sent him to live with a missionary. As the missionary showed love and shared the Gospel with Hayashi, he saw that the missionary was different,. “So that night at age 16,” Hayashi said, “I decided to confess Jesus Christ as Lord to the glory of God the Father.” Hayashi finished high school and after that he enrolled at the Moody Bible Institute. “I praise God for my mother,” he said. “She was a prayer warrior.” Today, Hayashi serves as music and worship pastor at First Baptist Church in Troy, Mo. He is also the general secretary for the Southern Baptist Convention’s National Asian American Fellowship. “I look back at God’s faithfulness,” Hayashi said. … “I’m just a monument of His triumphant grace.”
Say: Jonathan Hayashi said he felt like God “tapped” on his heart and that God had a “bigger plan” for him. Then call attention to Question #2 (What are the practical implications of knowing we are chosen by God?) and invite volunteers to respond.
