Getting Started

Read after RECAP:

Every human born has an earthly father. He may have been a good dad, or left a poor example to follow. In fact, 1 out of 3 children in the US live without a dad in the home.

There are, however, characteristics of a good father. He will be patient, moral, open-minded, loving, loyal, and honest. He will lead by example, and be a good man. No matter how good a father is, he is only a small example of how amazing our Father God is.

God is the ultimate father. He is able to do more than we could ever ask or imagine. How did your earthly father’s life point to your Heavenly Father? There is nothing God can not do.

Get Into the Study (Option for Adult Leader Guide)

In advance, play a video clip of a famous venue for a concert or sporting event. Then ask Question #1.

Study the Bible (Option for Adult Leader Guide)

Isaiah 44:21-23

Read after DISCUSS, QUESTION #3.

Memory plays such a big part in our every-day lives. In fact, by revisiting old memories we activate deep, interconnected parts of the brain, influencing not only how we feel, but also how we think, focus, and relate to the world.

There are many verses in the Bible that refer to remembering and teaching children what God has done in their life. It’s important to remember so that you can recall all that God has done for you—even as an adult. Here are some ways to help you remember:

1. Use Sensory Triggers: Smells, music, or textures can activate rich memory networks and deepen recall.

2. Journal Old Moments: Writing helps clarify and integrate memory—turning loose impressions into structured thought.

3. Tell Your Story: Whether through conversation, creative writing, or voice memos, narrating memories strengthens language and identity coherence.

4. Revisit Physical Places: Returning to a familiar setting can reawaken contextual memory and deepen reflection.

5. Connect Memories to the Present: Ask: What have I learned? How have I changed? What would I tell myself then?

What is something else that you might utilize to remember all that God has done for you?
