Our words have a way of changing over time. While the English vocabulary continues to grow and many words slowly change in meaning, our understanding of some words should never change. In this unit, we’re going to ensure we understand the right meaning of six key words or ideas in Scripture. It doesn’t matter how our culture uses these words—what matters is how God intended for us to understand them, and their right meaning makes all the difference.
Session 1: Holy
Scripture: Isaiah 40:25-31
The Point: God is distinct from and above absolutely everything else.
Session 2: Lost
Scripture: Luke 15:11-14,17-24
The Point: Without Christ, we are hopelessly lost.
Session 3: Salvation
Scripture: Romans 3:20-28
The Point: Jesus made it possible for us to be righteous before God.
Session 4: Faith
Scripture: Hebrews 11:1-6
The Point: We can confidently trust in what God says and does.
Session 5: Sanctified
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:9-20
The Point: We are set apart in Christ to live holy lives.
Session 6: Eternal Life
Scripture: Revelation 21:1-8; 22:1-5
The Point: We can live forever in the presence of God.
