Fall tends to bring a sense of renewal and change with its crisp air and vibrant colors. I look forward to the cooler weather, wearing my favorite sweaters, watching football, and making s’mores in the backyard around our campfire. I also look forward to the new quarter in Bible Studies for Life: Kids. We have exciting things planned for the preschoolers and kids this fall.
Starting with our Fall 2024 resources, there will be a QR code on each Kids Activity Page so parents can have free access to the Bible Studies for Life At Home. This resource encourages families to choose a day and time for family devotion and provides a simple plan that includes the following sections: Read the Scripture, Talk about the Scripture, Watch the Bible Story Video, Learn Scripture, and Sing. We provide two prompts for parents to use during the week to help direct prayer and start casual family conversations about God. Each week, we also provide two activities related to that week’s main idea. One is a fun activity for families to enjoy together, and the other is a service activity, encouraging families to live out the gospel in their communities. I pray Bible Studies for Life At Home will be a resource families use in their devotions at home.
We have some changes to our Quick Start Kits. We heard your feedback and realized that three packs of postcards each quarter was not necessary. We have reduced the number of postcards included in your Quick Start Kit to just one per quarter. The postcard each quarter will be intentional and appropriate for what the kids are learning. We hope that this will be a positive change as you continue to build relationships with children in your church!
We are excited about the sessions provided this fall. The first unit’s title for kids is Choose Wisely, and the title for preschool is I Can Choose. Kids and preschoolers are faced with decisions every day, and we can guide them to make God-honoring choices. We can help kids understand that they will face difficulties, but God will give them wisdom and strength to make right choices. I pray that this unit will provide great conversation with kids as you build trust and discuss different choices they encounter.
In the second unit, kids and preschoolers will explore more about who God is and the powerful things He can do. We can guide kids to understand that God is in control of everything that happens because He is the one true God! Kids can learn that God is always with them and can help them in any situation they face.
In the last unit, kids and preschoolers will learn about God, the Creator and how He continues to be active in the world today. Kids will learn that even though God created us to have a relationship with Him, we make choices that break that relationship through disobedience. Our sin separates us from God, but Jesus came to rescue us from sin and to bring us back to God. If you have kids that are asking questions, I encourage to use the Sharing the Gospel with Kids found in your Leader Guide.
Thank you for partnering with us as we share a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual growth and understanding of kids and preschoolers!
